Freedom Boat Club,the largest operator of boat-sharing clubs and a division of Brunswick Corporation, announced on July 9th the acquisition of Fanautic Club, one of the largest boat clubs in Europe, with 23 locations in major coastal cities and resorts in Spain. This acquisition accelerates Freedom's growth in Europe and marks the third European country with a Freedom Boat Club presence, after France and the UK.
“Spain is one of Europe's great boating destinations and we are delighted with the opportunity to serve Fanautic Club members and continue our growth along the coast of Spain," said Jason Worthy, vice president of Boating Services, EMEA. "Expanding our presence in top-tier European markets is consistent with our ambitious plan to grow the group's shared-use model that our management team outlined during our recent Investor Day."
Of the 23 locations, six will be owned and operated as corporate locations, and 17 will continue to be owned and operated by franchisees.
Fanautic Club currently serves more than 600 members and continues to grow in popularity as more customers are introduced to the boating lifestyle through the shared-use model.
The acquisition of Fanautic marks the fourth acquisition made by Freedom Boat Club Corporate Team in just over a year, following the purchase of the New York territory in early April, the Chicago territory in early March, and the Charleston, South Carolina territory in spring 2020.
